Increased performance and fresh design

Complete revision of the sporty roadster

BMW Motorrad presents the updated versions of the S 1000 R and M 1000 R for the 2025 model year. These naked bikes not only impress with more power, but also with innovative technical features and a striking new lighting design.

An eye-catcher: The impressive design of the new S 1000 R

The previous generation of the S 1000 R was considered by many to be a little too tame. The single headlight was practical, but did not exude the desired aggressiveness. This changes dramatically with the 2025 model version. The new double headlight with LED technology gives the bike a truly fearsome expression, in keeping with the BMW philosophy. The rear has also been redesigned with a more compact license plate holder. Other practical innovations include a USB-C charging socket under the seat and the standard E-CALL emergency call service.

BMW S 1000 R 2025: Focus on engine and performance

The inline four-cylinder engine, derived from the S 1000 RR, now produces 170 hp at 11,000 rpm - an increase of 5 hp compared to the previous model. This improvement was achieved by adjusting the intake ducts and optimizing the engine mapping. The maximum torque remains unchanged at 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. A shortened secondary gear ratio (17:46) is intended to further optimize acceleration.

The standard gearshift assistant now enables upshifting and downshifting without using the clutch and ensures smooth gearshifting, regardless of whether the throttle is open or closed. The new M short-stroke throttle reduces the angle of rotation to 58 degrees. In addition, the DTC traction control of the S 1000 R has been improved using the technology of the M 1000 R.

Functionalities for more safety and driving pleasure

The new S 1000 R is equipped with an engine drag torque control (MSR), which prevents the rear wheel from spinning when the accelerator is abruptly released or when downshifting. In addition, the engine braking torque can be set using the "Engine Brake" function in four different riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Dynamic Pro).

Fresh update for the BMW M 1000 R 2025

In addition to the S 1000 R, BMW is also presenting the new M 1000 R. This combination of stunning design and the latest technology from the BMW M department ensures an exciting driving experience. With an output of 210 hp and an unladen weight of 199 kg, the M 1000 R remains one of the top categories in its segment, both on the road and on the racetrack.

The DTC traction control has been revised and, in conjunction with the M short-stroke throttle, offers a noticeable improvement in driving dynamics, especially in race mode. Despite the new Euro 5+ standard, performance remains at the usual high level.

Aggressive design for the M 1000 R

The design of the new model has been further refined. The rear frame and swing arm are in platinum gray, while the winglets are in black textured paint. The covers for the clutch and generator are also in black. The new double headlight, derived from the RR models, gives the M 1000 R a powerful look.

Equipment, colors and price of the BMW M 1000 R 2025

The M 1000 R is available in two basic colors: Light White uni/M Motorsport and White Aluminium metallic matt. The M Competition variant is also available in Black Storm metallic/M Motorsport. The new optional extras include a luggage plate for the pillion seat, carbon winglets and a low tinted windshield.

The prices of the new BMW S 1000 R and M 1000 R will be announced shortly.
